The Association of African Public Service Commissions (AAPSCOMS) was established in April 2008 in Kampala, Uganda. The Association’s main goal is to provide a continental platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration among Public Service Commissions across Africa. Its core mandate is to strengthen the institutions responsible for the public service, thereby contributing to better governance and service delivery for all African citizens. Its mission aligns closely with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, particularly the goal of building capable institutions and ensuring a responsive Public Service.

To achieve this, the Association is committed to several key objectives:

Our Mandate

AAPSCOMS is mandated to promote high standards of public administration, strengthen the capacity of member commissions, and advocate for ethical, impartial, and effective governance across all African public services.

Capacity Building

Enhancing the operational capabilities of national public service commissions through targeted training and knowledge sharing.

Harmonization & Standards

Developing standardized ethical guidelines and administrative practices tailored to the African context.

Advocacy & Dialogue

Serving as a unified voice for African public service leaders on continental and global governance platforms.

Cross-Border Collaboration

Facilitating technical exchange programs and bilateral cooperation among member states.
